Privacy Policy

VIGIL Matrix is designed around local-first processing, data minimization and privacy-by-design principles.

Overview

VIGIL Matrix is a browser security research project developed by Sentyra. The project explores Manifest V3-native, matrix-based request policy control for advanced users who want to inspect and control third-party web execution per site.

The extension allows users to view observed resource domains in the current browsing context and create local request policies based on source domain, target domain and resource type.

Privacy is a core design principle. VIGIL Matrix is designed to avoid remote data collection and to perform processing locally within the browser wherever possible.

Data collection

VIGIL Matrix does not collect personal information for advertising, profiling, analytics or marketing purposes.

VIGIL Matrix does not transmit browsing history, page contents, observed resource domains, credentials, authentication tokens, cookies, request policies or personal files to Sentyra.

VIGIL Matrix does not use telemetry, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, analytics platforms or remote logging.

Local resource inspection

When the user opens the VIGIL Matrix popup on a web page, the extension may inspect the currently active tab to identify observed resource domains and resource types.

These resource types may include scripts, frames, images, stylesheets and network resources visible to the browser. This information is processed locally and is used solely to display the request matrix and allow the user to create, test, save, revert, import or export local request policies.

Local policy storage

VIGIL Matrix may store user-created policy and configuration data locally in the browser.

  • Site-specific request policies
  • Global request policies
  • Temporary and saved rule states
  • Extension configuration settings
  • Locally bundled domain-classification metadata

This data is stored using browser-provided extension storage, such as chrome.storage.local. It is not uploaded to Sentyra.

Request blocking

VIGIL Matrix uses the browser's Manifest V3 declarative request-blocking capabilities to apply local request policies.

The extension may create local browser rules that block selected resource requests based on source domain, target domain and resource type. These rules are created from user-controlled policies and are applied locally by the browser.

VIGIL Matrix does not send request data to a remote server for classification, inspection or enforcement.

Domain classification

VIGIL Matrix may use locally bundled domain-classification metadata to visually distinguish common tracker, advertising or third-party service domains from same-site or core-site resources.

This classification is performed locally. The extension does not call a remote classification API.

Data not transmitted

VIGIL Matrix does not transmit browsing history, URLs, page content, observed resource domains, request policies, settings or diagnostic data to Sentyra or to any third party.

VIGIL Matrix does not send data to analytics providers, advertising networks, telemetry platforms, cloud services or external classification APIs.

VIGIL Matrix does not collect names, email addresses, account identifiers, passwords, payment information, precise location data, personal communications or authentication credentials.

Permissions

VIGIL Matrix requests browser permissions only to provide its user-facing functionality.

  • activeTab, to analyze the currently active tab when the user invokes the extension
  • scripting, to inspect the current page context and identify observed resources
  • storage, to store local extension settings and user-created policies
  • declarativeNetRequest, to apply local request-blocking rules through the browser
  • declarativeNetRequestFeedback, where available, to help users understand which local rules matched during testing or diagnostics

These permissions are used only for the extension's stated purpose: local, matrix-based request policy control.

Limited Use disclosure

VIGIL Matrix uses browser data only to provide local, user-facing request policy functionality.

VIGIL Matrix does not use browser data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, surveillance, unrelated analytics or resale.

VIGIL Matrix does not sell, rent, share or transfer user data to advertisers, data brokers or third parties.

VIGIL Matrix does not allow humans to read user browsing data because user browsing data is not transmitted to Sentyra.

Remote code

VIGIL Matrix does not execute remotely hosted code. Extension logic is included in the extension package.

Any bundled classification data is used as local metadata and does not enable remote code execution.

Data sharing

Sentyra does not sell, rent or share user data with advertisers, data brokers or third parties.

VIGIL Matrix is not designed to monetize user information.

Data retention and deletion

Because VIGIL Matrix stores policy and configuration data locally in the browser, users can delete this data by clearing extension settings, removing saved policies or uninstalling the extension.

Uninstalling the extension removes locally stored extension data according to the browser's extension storage behavior.

Security limitations

VIGIL Matrix is an experimental research project and advanced-user policy tool. It is not a complete security product.

VIGIL Matrix does not guarantee protection against all tracking, phishing, malware, unwanted content or browser-based attacks. Users remain responsible for exercising judgment when interacting with websites, services and digital identities.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the project evolves. The latest version will always be published on this page.
